Title: “Presas y presos”.
Technique: illustrated cyanotype.
Inspiration
The visual poetry of artist “El Roto”, the book of aphorisms “El parpadeo”, the press, social networks, my father, the sculptures of Sargadelos, Barcelona, etc.
Using the fluctuating technique of cyanotype, I compose drawings of humans. I use the fence which once served as a wall for the hens in my grandmother’s henhouse, to create the mask that prints the texture of the bodies. Perhaps this formula of organizing the hens is not very different from how we humans are organized in a reality that sometimes seems simulated.
Imprisoned by our minds, our image, our borders, information, social networks, the pace of power, consumption, we ride towards the discovery of a society that conforms to what is suggested to us. In the end, human figures are enclosed in a dress without a body. As Andrés Rábago says: “So much fatigue for nothing! But that nothing was everything”

Alvaro Moca’s specialty is graphic arts, design, illustration, layout and video (motion graphics). He has a degree in advertising, Early in his career, he realized that what he enjoys the most is the somewhat peculiar treatment of images. He studied design and illustration, video post-production and 3D in Madrid and Chile. Since 2004 he works as a freelance art/motion director for different production companies and studios.
He oscillates between urban art and expressionism, creating a universe of characters that defy convention. According to art critic Alejandro Ratia, his work could be described as a “Humanario, a gallery of beings that exist somewhere between the human and the divine, the earthly and the extraterrestrial”.
In his work, Alva Moca employs a variety of techniques that include cyanotype, collage, illustration, muralism, painting and recycling. This versatility allows him to explore different facets of his creativity and bring his characters to life in a unique way.
The influence of graphic design becomes clear in the way he combines and manipulates visual elements, creating dynamic and attractive compositions. His works are not limited to one place; they have traveled to galleries and festivals around the world: Spain Taiwan, Mexico, the United States, France and many more.
In addition to his work as an artist, Alva Moca has left his mark in the film and television industry as well, collaborating as a graphic designer for Pedro Almodóvar and as a muralist for Daniel Sánchez Arévalo. This shows the versatility and the impact of his art in different creative fields.
