Inspiration
“When I work with textiles, I’m interested in taking into account the physical limits created by the seams of the piece when sewing together different patterns. So I try to make the information travel by breaking these limits visually, as if it were another dimension.
One of my themes as a visual artist focuses on exploring the duality of good and evil through characters. In addition, my universe is composed of vibrant colors and a strong influence of nature.
Like the iconic architect Antoni Gaudí, I merge opposing elements in my work, creating a visual dialogue between the celestial and the earthly. In the dress I have included one of my characters who symbolizes this duality. I have painted the flowers that Manuel has integrated into the dress and that are also part of my imaginary world, using my vibrant color palette which is similar to that of Gaudí.
For me, the connection between my work and Gaudí’s is clear. My intervention on this dress reflects my search for balance between the celestial and the earthly, honoring Gaudí’s legacy by continuing his tradition of exploring the beauty and complexity of the world through art.”
