Technique: spray and airbrushing on raw canvas.
Inspiration
“I was inspired by both the architectural and sculptural aspects of Gaudí’s work, taking as a reference the Sagrada Familia and the trencadís technique that the artist developed.
To carry out this project, I have taken into account two of the fundamental pillars of Gaudí’s work, the Sagrada Familia, focusing on the Façade of the Nativity, and the trencadís, a system of mosaics that he used for decoration. I have also worked on two of the concepts that support my work, human values. In this particular case, peace and the behavior of society today.
I started noticing the similarity of the dress to the Nativity Façade of the Holy Family, with its conical shape and the folds sewn vertically. Sacred buildings tend to be built as tall as possible, so as to show their splendour, but also to be closer to divinity. I became interested in the latter. In the dress, doves have been sewn on top, imagining that these represent divinity. These doves are painted in pink, symbolizing the opening of the heart. At the base of the dress, I’ve created an indigo blue mantle, which represents the search for truth, on which I place humanity in the form of squares, which simulate Gaudí’s trencadís and that represent individuals in society, trying to reach the doves of peace.
With my contribution I intend to reflect on the need to rethink certain values that are essential for the proper coexistence between individuals, as well as with nature and new communication systems”.
Work
BIO
Her work is a dialogue between the surreal and the metaphorical, reflecting on the patterns set by society. She is interested in an unprejudiced vision of the individual, considering diversity as an essential factor and finding in it a non-stereotypical beauty. In her work she includes a landscape that represents the combination of the real and virtual world, two worlds in which we live in a parallel, including motifs of nature, with a symbolic intention.
She works through the unconscious, making a configuration of what she sees, she develops characters that she turns into presences that are unusual and alien to themselves, in order to carry out a reflection on the natural order, to reach new possible programs and to expand from the sensitivity the understanding of diversity. The creative process flows intuitively, it is an internal dialogue, through which the work emerges, little by little the characters emerge on the canvas.
