PASI VASCO
Title: “Gautxori”.
Technique: Spray and acrylic on canvas

Inspiration

“In Basque “gau” means night and the ending “di” -as in “euskadi”- means “those of the Basque people”, “those of the Basque” (language). The surname Gaudí in Basque could therefore mean “those of the night”. This forced coincidence is a good excuse to speak about darkness, that magical aspect that Gaudí’s architectural work has for me.

His posthumous and still unfinished work, the Sagrada Familia, is a truly unclassifiable architectural, mathematical and spiritual exercise, which can only be compared with those ancestral mega structures that we still do not know how or by whom were built. The pyramids of Giza, for example”.

His visually powerful works are the result of a systematic search in current technological media. Not so much with the aim of capturing images that he can transfer to the canvas, but to understand and accept their speed of articulation. This relentless pursuit of the essential, in the different levels of memory, results in systematic parceling through which he combines the achievements of the traditional visual avant-garde with the opaque luminescence of the computer screens.
