Under the influence of Gaudí

MONTJUÏC CASTLE- BARCELONA

The Genius of Antonio Gaudí

The Fashion Art Institute by Manuel Fernández has used the genius of Antoni Gaudí as a pretext to merge fashion, art and architecture. The result is a multidisciplinary collection in which shapes and colours dance in beautiful harmony.

Atypical and unrepeatable, the Catalan architect and his work have served as a source of inspiration for this project in which different artistic disciplines come together. The objective was to create a fashion collection and an on-site and digital exhibition that pays homage to his unique style. This tangible manifestation of the innovative vision and deep spirituality of the Catalan genius is a result of the collaboration between the Fashion Art Institute, with Gaudí as an excuse.

His visionary work produced his unmistakable double twist columns and organic capitals, which inspired Manuel Fernández to create 19 canvas suits. Gaudí himself said, “Originality is a return to the origin.”

The 19 column suits designed by Manuel have become living canvases for the creative expression of some of the most outstanding young visual artists in Spain today. One from each of the country’s regions and the two autonomous cities that make up our territory.
The final result is as disruptive as the work of Gaudi was at the time. On the eve of the first centenary of his death, the exhibition is a tribute to the magic of his unmatched creativity and genius. A visionary architect who continues to inspire innovative minds today.

The costumes are made in inclusive workshops with sustainable fabrics.
